HVCC again ranked as a ‘Military Friendly’ school, again
TROY, N.Y. — Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) recently was designated a Military Friendly School for 2021.
The 2021 Military Friendly Schools® list honors the top colleges, universities, and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and to ensure their success on campus.
Originally established as the Veterans Vocational School, HVCC has a long tradition of assisting active-duty personnel and veterans with benefits, counseling, and academic advisement. The college offers transfer credit for military experience, tuition deferrals, dedicated study space, mentors, and a host of other services.
HVCC is educating a total of 321 student veterans during the 2020-2021 academic year.
Now in its 10th year, the Military Friendly® Schools list sets the standard for higher education institutions to provide the best opportunities for veterans and their spouses. Institutions earning the designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey completed by the school.
“The college has a growing number of support services aimed directly at the student veteran or active duty service member, in an effort to make our campus a more welcoming place for veterans to pursue higher education,” HVCC President Roger Ramsammy stated.
“Starting this year, the college will house the Rensselaer County Veteran Resource and Outreach Center, which we hope will make our campus a hub for veteran support in the county,” Ramsammy added.
Active duty service members or veterans who wish to speak to someone at the college about their benefits may call (518) 629-4545. Those who wish to enroll in a degree or certificate program may call the Admissions office at (518) 629-7309.
